More Ways to Give
Lord, help us to live the virtue of generosity, to love without limits.
- Pope Francis
“Sister, how can we help you?”
This is a question we often hear. Like all Dominican monasteries, we are completely autonomous, which means we receive no financial support from the archdiocese, the Dominican province of friars, the Dominican Order, or the Church. For our material needs, we depend completely on God’s Providence, through our Altar Bread Department, producing and offering other goods through our books and gifts department, and from donations of time, talent and treasure from our angels, like you.
Thank you for your prayerful support.
Ways to Give
make a monetary gift
Making a monatery gift is easier than ever. Your donation may be made online, by mail or telephone.
gift stock and other assets
A donor can reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes through a gift of appreciated securities. Please complete and mail or fax a “Letter of Intent” which includes your name, address, and phone number to make us aware of your intentions. We will then provide you with the necessary tax documentation and broker information. If you have any questions, please contact our Prioress via email or telephone at 650-322-1801 ex. 17.
give from an ira
Donors 70½ or older are eligible to move up to $100,000 from their IRAs directly to qualified charities without having to pay income tax on the money. The IRA charitable rollover rules are listed below.
Donors may make a direct transfer if: 1) The donor is age 70½ or older on the day of the gift; 2) The donor transfers up to $100,000 directly from the donor’s IRA to one or more qualified charities. This opportunity applies only to IRAs and not to other types of retirement plans; 3) The donor does not receive any goods or services in return for the rollover gift in order to qualify for tax-free treatment; and 4) The gift needs to be made by Dec. 31st, for the gift to qualify in the current calendar year.
Making a planned gift through a will, estate plan or another type of deferred gift such as one through an IRA or retirement fund, life insurance policy, or charitable trust gives donors opportunities to provide future support for the Dominican nuns of Corpus Christi Monastery as well as opportunities for short and long-term tax benefits. Donors are encouraged to consult with a financial advisor, accountant or attorney about structuring charitable giving in a way that best meets their philanthropic and financial goals. For proper identification of Corpus Christi Monastery in legal documents, donors are encouraged to contact our Prioress via email or telephone at 650-322-1801 ex. 17.
corporate matching / employee giving programs
Giving through a corporate matching program can greatly increase or even double your gift! And employee giving programs, programs promoting monthly payroll deductions or periodic giving campaigns to a charity of your choice, are common in many organizations and government agencies. These programs provide convenience while maintaining charitable tax benefits and the joy of knowing the "firstfruits" of your labor have been returned to God. A quick inquiry with your HR department can provide you with the exact policies and procedures they may ask you to follow.
Online shopping and charitable giving! If you shop on Amazon.com, your purchase may be eligible for the AmazonSmile program. For every eligible purchase, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate .5% of the purchase to Corpus Christi Monastery. To learn more, click here.
It’s been suggested we post a list of our current, on-going and project/department needs. There are many items that would make a big difference in our lives. Monasteries can’t survive without the gifts and donations of Nuns’ Angels like YOU! The items on our Angels' List are things most needed at this time by our community.
Other gifts-in-kind are appreciated, and can supply the monastery with important equipment, tools, supplies, and valuables, such as computers, cameras, art or books, quality vehicles, garden and home improvement tools and equipment, health equipment and other materials helpful to our cloistered life.
As we are unable to accept all items, please contact our Prioress via email or telephone at 650-322-1801 ex. 17 to inquire about the options available to you.
Some of our angels have given their time on projects around the monastery, to drive our sisters to doctors’ appointments, pick-up a guest from the airport, or run other errands. If you have special knowledge, skills, or just a strong arm and a little time and want to volunteer, please contact our If you have any questions, please contact our Prioress via email or telephone at 650-322-1801 ex. 17.
