More Ways to Give

Lord, help us to live the virtue of generosity, to love without limits.
- Pope Francis

There are many ways you can help support our monastic community and join in our mission of prayer and sacrifice for the salvation of souls. In addition to freewill offerings of food, supplies and other goods, here are some other ways you can give and make a difference.

Thank you for your prayerful support.

more Ways to Give

make a monetary gift

Making a monatery gift is easier than ever.  Your donation may be made online, by mail or telephone.

gift stock and other assets

A donor can reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes through a gift of appreciated securities. Please complete and mail or fax a “Letter of Intent” which includes your name, address, and phone number to make us aware of your intentions. We will then provide you with the necessary tax documentation and broker information. If you have any questions, please contact our Prioress via email or telephone at 650-322-1801 ex. 17.

give from an ira

Donors 70½ or older are eligible to move up to $100,000 from their IRAs directly to qualified charities without having to pay income tax on the money. The IRA charitable rollover rules are listed below.

Donors may make a direct transfer if: 1) The donor is age 70½ or older on the day of the gift; 2) The donor transfers up to $100,000 directly from the donor’s IRA to one or more qualified charities. This opportunity applies only to IRAs and not to other types of retirement plans; 3) The donor does not receive any goods or services in return for the rollover gift in order to qualify for tax-free treatment; and 4) The gift needs to be made by Dec. 31st, for the gift to qualify in the current calendar year.

planned giving

Making a planned gift through a will, estate plan or another type of deferred gift such as one through an IRA or retirement fund, life insurance policy, or charitable trust gives donors opportunities to provide future support for the Dominican nuns of Corpus Christi Monastery as well as opportunities for short and long-term tax benefits. Donors are encouraged to consult with a financial advisor, accountant or attorney about structuring charitable giving in a way that best meets their philanthropic and financial goals. For proper identification of Corpus Christi Monastery in legal documents, donors are encouraged to contact our Prioress via email or telephone at 650-322-1801 ex. 17.

corporate matching / employee giving programs

Giving through a corporate matching program can greatly increase or even double your gift!  And employee giving programs, programs promoting monthly payroll deductions or periodic giving campaigns to a charity of your choice, are common in many organizations and government agencies.  These programs provide convenience while maintaining charitable tax benefits and the joy of knowing the "firstfruits" of your labor have been returned to God.  A quick inquiry with your HR department can provide you with the exact policies and procedures they may ask you to follow.
